The grease zerk I need is not the backhoe pin zerks, it is the small 8mm size that screws right into the boom on the backhoe. There are about 4 of these grease Zerks on this Boomer 24. WebbBecause the 1/4-28 NFT tap is a straight not a tapered thread I use just the first several turns of the tap. That way the tapered zerk thread has something to wedge up agianst. Otherwise the zerk will never tighten up. I worked in a machine shop where we installed a lot of zerks and never used anything but standard 1/4-28 taps on the zerks.
