WebThe gnathological splint was given to the patient to deprogram the muscles from this distracted position and to move the condyle to a more optimal and stable position. After 8 months of splint therapy, the patient exhibited lack of symptoms and the records taken at this time indicated the correction of condylar position. WebGnathology is the study of the masticatory system, including its physiology, functional disturbances, and treatment. Dr Beverly McCollum established the Gnathologic Society in 1926. Chairman of the Board of Directors, David W. McLean DDS represented the So. Cal. Gnathology Society in 1929 in Mexico City, furthering the Society's work. [1]
